Mythological Significance

The Purans which had developed many stories in that Maha Shivaratri also has its own image one, during the samundra manthan, a pot of poison which is merged from the ocean. This terrified the gods and demons which have been capable of destroying the entire world, and they ran to Lord Shiva for help. To developed the world from its evil effects, Lord Shiva for help. To protect the world from its evil effects, Lord Shiva had drunk this poision it in his throat. Because of it, he was given the fast neelkantha. In Maha Shivratri festival we worshipped of lord “Shiva” or “Nilkantha”.


As we know that Brahma and Vishnu have a two strong powerful god. Brahma had decided to himself to be the Creator and was Destroyer, he was commanded more respect. Both of them were forget about the Quarrel and decided to determine the size. Neither which could not as certain just then, Shiva was appeared out of the lingam and it was the nice of both of them. He was the only who have the power to destroyed or creator.

The songs which has been sung by the great enjoyment during the nights of Mahashivrathri. People are saying the Mantra of Om Namah Shivaya on the eve of mahashivratri festivals. It is the believed that one who utters the name of Shivaya on the eve of mahashivratri. People repeat the Panchakshara Mantra, Om Namah Shivaya. In the night people were making the ascetics which 9is very famous for this days. This ascetics were making with the help of almonds and milk, which is essentially drunk which is very popular. People are enjoying by taking this drink because this is the Prasad of Maha Shivratri festival which is very popular with ascetics.
